So is it better to have individual GDTs for each IGBT or use one GDT per 2 IGBTs? What are the advantages and disadvantages in each case?

Personally, I prefer to have 2 chips ran from one GDT. It's simple to get the correct phasing that way. You let the GDT put one of the switches out of phase, that way you have less silicon in your driver. That said, I'm not the most experienced here, so I'm sure others will chime in with more theory.
