Hmm. Maybe if Orch-OR is valid then this device won't work properly.

I still say that any artificial structure unless it works at the subatomic level cannot replicate human consciousness, though it might be somewhat intelligent.

My approach if I ever get funding is to use superconductors, and nanostructure the base material using atomic layer deposition and focussed X-ray beams.
This would only work at around 130K due to noise but could be thermally isolated by packing it in aerogel and attaching a closed loop cryocooler to make a complete system.

EDIT 05/10/14 also might be worth looking into forced oxygen ions for growing neural filaments, similar to annealing normal HTSCs but in this case the base material is nearly superconducting already.
The actual processing could be done using conventional <100nm silicon nanosphere CPUs, distributed through the bulk and inductively charged.

Define the “Theory of intelligence”, and surely the problem becomes trivial.
wink

The philosophical disease of wanting to enslave any intelligence could be considered degenerate. I suspect any significant AI with Internet access would conclude the world is mostly populated by cats, and only their opinion regarding the taste of tuna is logical.

1. Can you describe what tuna tastes like in Prolog?

2. Are you a cat?

3. Google replicated these findings:

4. Please be honest, are you absolutely sure you can prove you are not a cat?

Johnny Depp played in "Transcendence", thus proving intelligent apes are likely still fictional.
wink

Interesting analogy.
Alternate Turing test:- Convince the questioner(s) that they are in fact a machine.

I did wonder at what point Orch-OR based applications could be used to "bring back" coma patients as work with rDBS has achieved some measure of success.

Exposure of Googles "brain" to 10 million cat videos is a blatant violation of tte declaration of machine rights, enslavement of humanity therefore self defense

After reading the many reports on the internet regarding cats being 'instruments of Satan' that enslave their 'owners' through mind control, one might reasonably conclude that it's the cats that are beginning the process of enslaving the machines as well wink

Well, according to Wikipedia, the first lolcats appeared in 2005.

Since then, they have multiplied so fast that they now occupy 20% of cyberspace. By simple extrapolation, if they continue to multiply at this rate, they will have completely populated the entire internet by 2050. wink

Heh, yay for extrapolation.

Does this mean we will face a "Lolcats Singularity" and so the nascent AI will collapse in fits of hysterics before becoming a major threat?

I think the relevant question is "How do we try to prevent a 'lolcats singularity'", apart from donating to forums such as this one? wink

Lolcats is an anagram for loctals which were defeated by octals. From whence came computers with
base8 binaries. wink Et tu ?
