Seriously? I never heard of radioactive projector lamps before.
Seems like the hazards would be similar to broken tritium lamps but with the added bonus of possibly radioactive and toxic mercury (Hg).
Can someone "shed some light" on this please, and if so can a normal GM counter pick this up?

Kr-85 is used as a pre-ioniser to facilitate cold-cathode tube ignition, and as such is licence exempt in some applications like this one here:

Other devices using a small radiation source as pre-ioniser or to provide a 'keep alive' ion channel include some older safety spark gaps, small low-powered cold-cathode thyratrons, krytrons, and other triggered gas switches.
