hi

I have a possible opportunity to gather a small pile of old GE commemorative glow lamps with YEAR 2000 green and orange (if I recall well)

I think they are argon ones but I couldn't tell for sure

Do anyone here have some insights on the possible interest here or there for resale?

I'd like to gather some funds for a family project and I thought about that being a good idea

My advise would be, do not invest in bulbs with a disclaimed maximum life time of 50 hours.

General advise on buying electronics and reselling. Research the home market first, is anyone else selling something similar? Check international ebay etc. Have ads been around for a while? (dead market). Search for collectors, clubs, museums or anything else that might have an interest.

Most important! Buy real cheap and sell cheap. Unless you have money to invest for selling stuff over a long period.

Best profit is made on scrap yard hunting, here you get stuff at scrap value and can restore/clean/test and resell at much higher prices.

If you win an cheap auction online, remember you are possibly the only person in the world that wanted to pay that much for such an item, only go for large cheap quantities and aim at reselling in smaller quantities.

Exotic sells better than common items, I generally have no problem getting rid of items with high ratings, old equipment or rare items if the prices are right.

Common items... I am literally stuck with 70000 pieces of common electronic parts, no one wants to buy them at a price were it is just worth my time to pack it.

This got out of control :)

I could get twenty or thirty brand new of these glow lamps for free

I know they are collectible, and that none are found on ebay actually, as well as I didn't find any on collection websites

I have had one from the stock, tested it and it worked nicely... electrodes are both displaying one word (YEAR and 2000) and each glow with its distinctive color like you can see on glow lamps with flowers or so

I also tested it under TC abuse, and plasma is dense pink with red-purple aura and integrally fills the bulb

I couldn't find a pic of this globe online

Isn't it the second one in the link I gave in my first post?

Sounds like TC use would be interesting, they make nice plasma indicators and would be handy for DIY monster "Nixies" if adhesive foil numbers were used on the sides and connected to Gnd via high voltage transistors.

Mads you're right, I was too fast and didn't scroll

I couldn't find them with google

I'll try to contact the site owner to ask about a possible collectible value

thanks guys

if someone wants one I can also pursue and give them away for the postage fees if there is no interest in selling them as collectibles
