Well, "0.5mm arc distance*2" isn't a voltage rating, diodes will stop 'reverse voltage' and, as I don't really know what you're intending to use this for, I've no idea what values may be suitable.

'Paschen's law' will give an approximation of voltage vs (arc length x Pressure) required
P.S. be sure to have a large value resistor between the arc gap and the capacitor(s) this will prevent all of the energy stored in the capacitor(s) instantly being dumped into the arc gap.
