Coal furnace, and pressure

OK, some quick calcs:
Lets assume you use a round tube 30cm ID, with a 10mm wall. (nobody builds a pressure vessel with flat sides)
Hoop stress comes out at 9.3MPa
Longitudinal stress comes out at 4.65 Mpa

I don't have the calcs for hemispherical end plates.

Yield strength for steel (first page i looked at ) is around the 260MPa mark (cold).

You'd want a safety factor of at least 10, more like 20. So it looks like you might just get away with it. But it will need to be professionally made and pressure tested. and I still have serious doubts about using steel at that temperature.

As for the business with fans and ionsiers: you are going to put a lot of energy in, so as to get a little energy out. Sounds a lot like the water powered car that runs on hydrogen produced by an electrolyser driven off the car's engine.
