Hi all. Seems that this might be the next wonder material, it can be made into molecule thick LEDs and can also work in photovoltaic mode as a wideband material.

I'm all for materials science and electronic device research but if you're going to call this a wonder material, I'm going to ask what you think makes it so wonderful?
The Nature paper ( cited for the many news articles about the 3 atom thick LED shows emission mainly at 1.65eV (750nm light), not a wide band gap, and not useful for visible light LEDs.
This is not to denigrate the material, but we shouldn't call every 2D semiconductor (or semi-metal) a wonder material unless they really are wonder materials.
