*bump*

Have you ever made efficiency measurements or guesstimates on this setup? I'd be interested if it outperforms the classical coilgun / ring launcher. I would expect it to, but then I have zero experience with the ETG concept since it is highly illegal in my (and probably most other) contries.

I wont tell if you wont wink

I am curious as well, for many years I've had the ETG concept in the back of my head with my big Maxwells, just never got around to fabricating anything yet. I'd amagine with several KJ of real pulsed power (not electrolytic) it would probably blow barrels and electrodes up that werent really beefy.

I figure I'm going to retrieve this thread, because now that my new 24kj bank is alive and kicking, I'm going to pick up where I left off in this area of experimentation....specifically, I'm going to try opposing spark plugs with the grounds removed.

I pretty much *know* copper pipe isn't going to cut it...I was ripping copper apart with my 3.5kj bank. So I'm going to go for steel pipe for this one. I just hope I'm able to build something that can actually propel a projectile and not accidentally make a thermoelectric explosive - I will be far far far away from this thing.

Good luck! And of course, take some pics, vid, and report back!
