I'm trying to locate diodes with specs of 50kV @ 5amps (+/-) in order to build a full wave bridge to rectify an unregulated power supply. I've searched the net including all my usual vendors without luck, however, I did find this vendor Link2 but his selection of diodes that will handle several amps only goes as high as 10kV. Question: Do diodes with the specs I seek exist? If so, where? Thanks in advance.

I somewhat doubt that, often you wan't to have a fair chunk of headway with these things, his powersupply could likely be only be say... 30kV @ 0.5A or whatever.. not saying that thats a small amount of power though...

i've been looking for such diodes too..

2DL 25KV 2A High Voltage Rectifier HV Silicon Stack Diode Link2

Rectangle 25KV 2A High Voltage Diode HV Rectifier Green Link2

It doesn't say what the recovery speed of these diode stacks is in the short form data, but it ain't gonna be fast.

25kV @ 2A is 50kW - and if de power come looking for you bro, mebbe creepin across a surface real slow and silent, until it get de finger, then kabboom, you will be toast my friend ha ha ha.

I forgot to answer the original question: do 50kV 5A diodes exist and can they be bought?

Yes, they do exist - or more correctly, 50kV 5A stacked diode modules exist - some of these with built in CR network compensation to harmonise voltage distribution across the stack elements.

Link2

PS Don't expect friendly Chinese style prices on these units - you have to get quotes on these! Mucho dinero, hombre!
