We are working on a quad MOT tesla coil, and currently stuck on secondary.
Stuff I have •12 inch diameter by 4 foot tall cement cardboard stuff (don't remember what it is called, but is found at home depot) •5 foot tall 4 inch diameter PVC pipe (probably can't use that because of the bad ratio) •94 ohms (calculated to be like 4.7 ish or 3500 feet) of 24 gauge magnet wire.
Questions
•How many turns aprox do I need up the coil?
•Is it enough wire? With fishing line beside it? Without?
•Should I use fishing line? If so, what size and how much?
•Should we build something to automatically wind the secondary? If so, how, and what RPM would be wanted?
Thanks for the help, I just am a bit confused and we are working on it for my club at high school.

Did you read the replies in the last thread you started?
Things that come to mind:
24awg is too thin for a big 12" coil Quad MOT's is total overkill for a 4" coil.
If you use the 4" pvc, and cut it down to about 20-24", it would work fine. 4x24" = 1110 feet, and 1060 turns. If you use the 12" form, you could only get about 25" out of it, and would run out of wire. Would not work well.
Never heard of spacing with fishing wire... I suppose its possible.
If you wind the 4", you can wind it in your lap in a couple of hours in front of the TV. The 12" would need a stand, and a 2nd pair of hands to assist.
