Seems that this uses substantially different principles from the usual defibrillator capacitor true EMP devices used earlier. Its similar in operation to a military radar, and works by injecting signals into the ECU directly using the frequently unshielded wiring between the various controllers and a proprietry waveform tuned to the car being targetted.

Gee, you would think they would test that before deciding that a HERF is a good way to stop a car. Have they considered the spread of the beam and the thousands of dollars of damage they could do to near by cars if the operator has bad aim? Its only barely a good idea to trust people with guns (police included) handing out monster RF transmitters to people who cant even grasp its theory of operation and the damage it can do is not a good idea.

During WWII people looking down the RF wave-guide also made statements that they "thought" it was perfectly safe too.....also tell that to the family of those killed by these so called "safe" Tazers... Once it is in the hands of an operator that has basically no idea of what they are using you can be sure there will be abuse. Note that the video has no technical mention of power just the band used....
zap !!! car stops ..... but the diesel truck behind doesnt , turning the car to scrap I read on the net <:0) , before WW2 mussolini and the italian radio guy ( cant remember name) trialled a rf ign jammer
