Difference between DRSSTC and Series resonant converter

What's the difference between DRSSTC and series resonant converter Link2 ? DRSSTC has a resonant secondary while series resonant converter doesn't?

The difference is that a Tesla coil produces sparks and this circuit does not. tongue Also:
-The series resonant converter is single resonant
-The resonance in the series resonant converter occurs between the leakage inductance of the transformer, or additional series inductance, and the capacitor
-The series resonant converter is a constant output voltage non-regulated power supply.

There are actually several patents regarding high voltage generators that describe DRSSTC topology and its double resonant driving scheme exactly. The topology and driving mechanism isn't not new at all, although in the patents, the output voltages are much less than what we would use in a DRSSTC.

Just a quick look found this double resonant driver which was intended for gas lamps. If you read through all the legal speak, you can see its very similar to how DRSSTCs are driven.

The schematic in the patent (actually from one of the versions) is very different from a "conventional" drsstc. I understand the drsstc as a circuit that generates the same output of a triple resonance Tesla transformer, or a "magnifier", but with excitation through an AC driver instead of capacitor discharge. It uses the zero-state response of the network instead of the zero-input response.

This is not strictly true. I know because I've made a modulated SLR before. It's what I used to drive my SSVC (Solid State Valve Coil).
