Ever find your mobile phone or camera with a nearly dead battery? Sometimes the proper charger is not at hand, or refuses to charge a battery so low in voltage. After occasionally having to charge proprietary batteries on the bench, I found a simple and convenient way to make the electrical contacts.
The picture shows two spring clips, not made for electrical purposes. Each holds a long straight pin or axial-lead resistor, oriented parallel to the clip jaws and hinge pin. The combination forms a short-legged tripod, and can rest on the bench with three points of contact. Then the corner with pin point or resistor lead is moved to rest on a battery terminal.
I've used this with a regulated and metered bench power supply to charge lithium batteries in several shapes and sizes, including side- and end-contact types.
Anybody out there got a similar favorite kluge for such applications?
p.s. y'all know I prefer the spelling that matches luge and centrifuge, not fudge or grudge or drudge.

nevermind the charger circuit, I'd not trust it in the least, but the mechanicals are workable. Most are spring loaded to push against the top or edge of the battery, and have a spring clamp to keep it from sliding away.
