The other day I was testing a bunch of old dry cells. Found a 9-volt battery which had spontaneously delivered, through the bottom of the case, one of its AAAA-like cylindrical cells. Who's seen that happen before? I sure hope it's as rare as coffin birth.

Had one explode before, I think its internal gassing. Nice pic btw, just shows how the strangest things can happen. I'm amazed this doesen't happen more often with cheap imported batteries, usually they quality check them but evidently in this case not. 9v's are prohibited in international mail unless in their original packaging...

I've had the top blow off one once when it was sitting on a shelf for a few months. It gets quite cold in here during the winter nights so it could be temperature related.
