The purpose of this thread to build and operate a device for the gathering of useful measurements on the possible propeller and motor combinations.

Above all else ... no more guessing ! I need real numbers!

Bunch O' Pics...
1385143754 2431 FT1630 One
The above is an approximation of what im trying for... the prop makes the device push down more that faster it turns.

1385143754 2431 FT1630 A
Road base gravel and polyurethane in a bag, for the ballast box.

1385143754 2431 FT1630 B
Empty box made from MDF.

1385143754 2431 FT1630 C
Inabout 10 minutes the water really started the foaming of the glue...

1385143754 2431 FT1630 D

1385143754 2431 FT1630 E

1385143754 2431 FT1630 Three

1385143754 2431 FT1630 Two
As seen above the stand w/o motor or prop wheighs 2.120 kg.

yeah right. That is same as trying to pull yourself from sand. Air will press on platform that is standing on, that is very efficient .

if you use same diameter propeller, it will give information you need for efficiency divided by some constant C , longer propeller better "measured" performance (aka lower C)

Linas please elaborate on your criticisim, the propeller is pushing down, and air is exhuasted upward. there can be no pushing down from air flow....

(im hoping i thought it out right...)

Proudmary, im thinking of testing it on a narrow pole like table, to avoid ground effect accumulation, if any to the final measurement. (the air is moving upward though...)

For my machines, tri, bi and quads, of the 1 to 3kg mass, ground effect is large at about 0.3 meters AGL. And minimal at 0.8m, and non-existant at 1.5 m AGL.
