Hello! I have a few questions about the PLL driver.
I made it. Please check it carefully. The bridge was taken from Kaizer Power Electronics. The control circuit was taken from uzzors2k
The coils FRes will be 50-30 khz
However there are a few things i do not understand " The capacitor on pins 6 & 7 and the resistors on pin 11 and 12 determine the frequency that the coil runs at. The ratio between R1 and 2 determine how far the oscillator can wander. The 10k potentiometer by pin 9 will adjust the voltage bias on the VCO input and alter the frequency," Uzzors2k I though it was supposed to reach the resonant frequency all by itself?
Also. When i searched for CD4046 on my electronics site. I got those CD4046BE and CD4046BPW Which :O
Also what values should the capacitors , resistors and the potentiometer be so they run on the range i wish to run at?

Well as mentioned in the previous thread , in ground strikes the antenna feedback can case weird problems and I personally wouldn't want any risk of that happening when im pushing over 5Kw though a bridge
Im no expert but I believe most of the antenna feedback systems ive seen reply on the gate drive ICs to "ping" the primary and get the oscillations going then feedback takes over for such a large SSTC I would strongly recommend some form of PLL circuit as they can follow resonance and allways put out a drive signal and with CT feedback there is very little chance of feedback isses when done properly , its not very expensive to do and may save your bridge .
If the antenna is directly struck then it could kill the driver circuitry or cause issues that wouldn't be healthy for the half bridge .

Can you recommend me a pll circuit which would use the same components as the kaizer sstc 2? And would be simple and compatible with the antenna feedback circuit ? If that exists ? And is the pll self tuning?

Hey, the problem is not with the antenna itself, but with the direct-amplifying feedback. You need to use a circuit which will output stable pulses, even if the feedback signal is disrupted or disturbed by noise. The only circuit which seems to fulfill these requirements is the phase-locked loop. It also has the advantage of possible phase adjustment, which can be used eg. for delay compensation.
They use PLL styled circuits in DRSSTC don't they?
I believe, that mostly they don't, since they usually employ primary current feedback. Primary current is much less affected by ground arcs than antenna voltage or secondary base current. PLLs in DRSSTCs allow the choice of poles, which determine the primary current envelope.
Ohhh ok. That makes sense thank you. I had seen current feedback loops, but I figured PLL would work... the OP should do primary current feedback too. I've seen a lot of tutorials on them.
