Hi all. I may have figured out a way to make a far more efficient EHD thruster.
The secret in this case is using porous graphite sold as "hovering graphite" on Ebay. It has holes due to low quality materials but can be useful if a laser is used to punch a grid.
Using this material has several advantages not least that it can be very robust indeed. The heatsinking effect also means that a 1" cube EHD thruster is nearly impossible to damage even if nearly red hot (PG is used in vacuum tubes for this reason)
Has anyone else discovered this effect yet?
Pics soon! -A
