one of my project has gone commercial and now I need a manufacturer that can run small (10-50 boards) batches. I gave alibaba a try but couldn't get a quote yet (all I'm getting now is unrelated "spam").
Does anyone know of a good PCB assembly service in Europe (preferably Germany, France, Czech Republic, Poland, UK, ...) that could do the job?

I'd suggest Olimex, but they had to suspend their PCB service because of too much demand.
I use Newbury Electronics in the UK to make bare boards, but they also do an assembly service, which I've never tried.
For assembly these days I work with a place called Kelvinside Electronics in Scotland. They specialise in low volume, high value niche stuff and might be interested if your boards were high value enough. ;)
For lower value boards, I've used European Circuits (again based in Scotland) to build small laser drivers in batches of 100.

Here in Belgium, there is Assemblics . The company I work for has used them many times and their work is good. Setup costs of the pick-and-place machines dominate the cost of small runs. Maybe 50 PCBs might be worthwhile. 100-1000 would be better. This depends on what you are charging for the finished product, of course. For 10 boards, you are probably better off farming out the assembly to some hand-assemblers or doing it yourself.
