Just to give you guys a heads up on some components which will aid in your SSTC / DRSSTC designs.
These current transformers work extremely well for SSTC and DRSSTC feedback and/or current monitoring designs and I have used them up to 800A peak current at frequencies over 200kHz.
The following gate drive transformers work very well for IGBTs in the DRSSTCs, again i have used them at frequencies over 200kHz and driving Fairchild 40N60 type IGBTs. http://www.coilcraft.com/pdfs/da23xx_gate.pdf

You really don't need 1:2:2 when driving your devices. I believe the trend towards 1:2:2 started way back and it has just been carried over. 1:1:1 does work fine provided you design your gate transformer properly per the load and frequency that you are switching.

Hey ,EVR very good Tip,. I ordered some Gate drive transformers half a year ago and i was surprised of the signal quality of such a small device(okay never thought of driving 40n60s with them). ordered some current sensing transformers and some wideband transformers for a switch mode powersupply i´ll build, hopefully they are as good as the devices i have

30V gate drive may not be needed, it depends on the current you want to conduct. You can look up in a spec sheet how much current the device can carry before desaturating given a certain gate voltage. The 30V was to give extra headroom, since we would definately be running them beyond their peak ratings. If the device falls out of saturation, then id say its pretty much going to explode, fast.

Since these transformers are so small/cute/cheap you could parallel primaries and series secondaries for 1:2:2 using four 1:1 transformers if unavoidable.
