A day of remembrance for our Italian forum members and a humbling lesson on technological hubris and political corruption for the whole world to pay attention to.

My italian-born wife remembers the day well (she grew up near the affected area) and complains that climate of political corruption and mafia involvment in big infrastructure projects has not changed much since then.
