There was a bit of discussion about whether all six scientists who contributed to the theory should have been named, however the Nobel is only awarded to a maximum of three people per subject.

And not awarded posthumously, the third has already 'passed on', Three others also contributed, but published later in '64.

Some speculations about this are here. Link2 Historically the Fields medal Link2 , awarded every 4 years is considered to be the highest honor for mathematicians. More recently it got a competitor in the Abel prize. Link2
