Today I got a Onkyo TX-NR807 stereo reciever from a friend However, I can't get any sound from it at all. After a google search, it seems like they suffer from a bad HDMI board which apparently prevents the stereo from detecting speakers that are wired to it. I tried heating the board up, as some have done on Youtube and actually took the whole board out to see if it would work without it: it turns on and acts normal but still no sound. Also, it's out of warranty.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Or could there be a workaround (IE: solder the audio input(s) to a different place)? I'd hate to just toss it in the scrap bin.

Atleast you get a nice heatsink, power transformer and some nice power transistors outta it for other audio projects, unless you already took it to the local e-waste dump.

Perhaps you should just use standard fault-finding methods - after ensuring that power is reaching all the boards, inject an audio signal into each stage - going backwards from the loudspeaker output - until you find the stage that doesn't work.

Same today, however, the extra winding on their speakers, today has been replaced with curious technology 'that dynamically reduces the speaker impedance, (mid-cycle ).
