A side note, you can get some very nice dust toroiden from broken flat screen TVs. I saved ten (!) from a single 32" heading for the WEEE bin.
Also handy, save the wire from an old digital clock for the primaries. Obtain a small DC motor and wind yourself some Litz wire, this increases efficiency many percent.

I tried this so many times, different transistors, coils, voltage, everything, and never got it worked. Then i bought 10W 12V CFL for 0.5$ and boom, JT can go to hell :D

Re. not working. Did you check that your 2N3055's actually worked? Also its really easy to mess up the transformer phasing, done this before.
I've had some success building a test jig for transistors, if they work in this then they should be fine for a JT, it has to do with the gain at high frequency. To make a sub optimal transistor work, try using more turns on the feedback winding and also add a series resistor; sometimes this will drop the transistor out of hard saturation and allow the circuit to start up.
