Hi.
A few years ago a friend of mine gave me an X-Ray power supply. I opened it to check the wiring inside.
Thats how it looks inside:

Dsc00431i
Dsc00441q
Dsc00451lg

Dsc00461ju

I removed the doorknops and the diodes and wired it up so that i can use the 2 transformers.
I tried to power the transformer with my IGBT bridge...
It worked... Massive AC arcs @ many kW wink

If you guys are interested i will upload a video.

Are the arcs better than the arcs from your homemade transformer

They are different... hard to describe.
My homemade transformer has a doubler at the output -> DC arcs.
The X-Ray transformer arcs are AC.
Ok i will upload a video wink

Just curious, what are these white and blue things ?

Hi Philgood. I measured the resistance. From one blue "edge" to another i have 8M Ohm. When i multiply this by 19 (19 edges) i get 152 MOhm xD Maybe a resistor from a voltage divider.

Enjoy! wink

Woot! Looks fantastic! How much power does it draw?

Thanks! a bit more than 20A @ 230V xD
When the arc is small (arcstic close to the breakout) the current draw is small, when i move the arcstic further away from the breakout current draw gets much bigger - strange... ^^
