They should do another one entitled "Assuming the aliens can do 50% C, how long would it take to get here".

I support the above statement, However...

eventually, we humans will need to be eradicated by force, to prevent radio spectrum pollution for the more advanced civilizations.

"leave Britney alone!"

launch unmanned planet killing weapon, toward that obnoxious "earth" place....3,2,1...

If they do listen, they have most assuredly surmised that there is little or no intelligent life here (in particular if they listen to the short-wave bible-belt, survivalists and the other stations broadcasts) ...or that earth will destroy itself by war or environmental collapse in due time...

"Mostly Harmless"

So why bother to travel here, unless you need the resources.....

If I had a working FTL craft, I'd certainly "buzz" the local systems just for the hell of it.
Would learn a lot that way, by monitoring the native's reactions to advanced technology.

600 light years, so well out of radio range then.
On the flip side, they just might turn up here because their equivalent of SETI detected some anomalies
from Jovian lightning or solar flare activity that "looked" like a signal.
Could be waiting a while though unless they have a convenient wormhole or some other shortcut that allows
for bidirectional travel.
