A video interview with Edward Snowden in his hotel room in Hong Kong.
Well spoken, concise. Hopefully his sacrifice won't be wasted.

Has anyone considered that this may be intentional, they "appear" to be leaking troves of information to divert people away from the real truth?
Classic misinformation, remember the mysterious Assange "insurance" file?

For a long time I have been considering to clean my facebook profile out as much as possible and let it go to page 10, I must say that this leak have got me a step further in this.

I am looking for alternatives to all the services I currently use: facebook, gmail, gmail contacts, google calendar, synced with android phone, youtube and skype.

It is not exactly an easy task to replace everything as I still want to maintain the user friendliness and synced systems.

Alternatives I am looking at atm are pidder, diaspora and yet unreleased freedombox.

Steps taken long ago and recently: Firefox, Thunderbird for my pop3 emails on domains and using duckduckgo.com for searching

The more I look, the more I am getting convinced to use paper and pen.

Conundrum: You have a special ability to take a view one step further, paranoid or genius.. ;)

Good ole pen and paper is the way to go smile

If it was meant to divert people from the real truth, then in your opinion what is the real truth?

Even with the leaked information, its scary to think about what technologies are being used that we don't know about. I try not to think to much about it, but keeping an open mind on these subjects is important, in my opinion.

Being older, I've a strong belief that our government (US) has been operating completely untethered for some time. And I'm a liberal.
FISA, and Homeland Security are perfect examples of packaged garbage for the sheeple. And now the news peddlers are helping those same agencies paint Edward Snowden as a enemy of the state, and are seeking extradition.
I believe many in my generation have stayed away from much of the technology with the understanding there's no privacy whatsoever after the patriot act was impemented.

Franky, I'm shocked with the published data that today's youth (a majority percentage) will tolerate full oversight in the guise of "security". Really?

If this does not initiate a revolt with clearing of the senate/house, there's no chance for any of us.

AMEN BROTHA!

But honestly, What is the youth to do about it? There is so much fear inflicted upon the people to act towards reform/change that it is keeping the majority from doing anything about it, in my opinion. For example, labeling Snowden as an enemy of state is enough to scare a lot of people into doing nothing. What's next? Is Snowden going to be called a terrorist? Threat to National Security? Hell, I wouldn't put it past the gov/media to say such things...
The people's biggest fear should be that their freedoms will be gone if nothing is done. The sad thing is that (it seems to me) a lot of people need to wake up to this truth. It's happening, it has been happening, and it will continue to happen.
On the other hand, the governments biggest fear is organization of the people (revolution).
My 2c.

Well with the Internet filtering in the Uk and elsewhere, it may end up that only "approved" sites end up accessible.
In that event we may end up having to set up a key exchange to view 4HV, based on one time pads.
Hopefully it won't come to that, but the "think of the CHILDREN!!!!!" nutjobs are pretty well organised and have many many Senators and MPs in their pockets.
