I recently acquired a small, 50 KV tesla coil made by Science First. This design uses a vibrator/ kick coil to drive an LC primary to induce the high voltage in the secondary. Not a very powerful coil, but nice for demos and such. However, the unit I have doesn't work. I can plug it in and hear the vibrator running, but no response from the HV secondary. As I adjust the interrupter, the "tone" of the vibrator seems to change. So, I'm not sure what's wrong, but I would guess one or both of the primary capacitors, which are the orange drop type. Any ideas?
