Hi RateReducer:

Do you mind provide a complete schematic and material specs/data ?

Thanks

__=|(:3)-|--{__ I could ask some people form a German forum. Some of them ordered big cores for far under 100$.

That would be great, im building the driver atm,
planning to build a 10Kw Ferrite Pole pig or simler. :3

Thanks, Physics Junkie!
Yes 1mm thick aluminum sheets.

Patric, i got those diodes and HV caps form an X-Ray transformer. ~200 diodes in series connection. I tapped them in the middle -> 2*100 diodes for the doubler. The caps are 2nF 40kV.

Newton Brawn, it is just a oscillator, a GDT driver, the half bridge and the transformer + doubler. I will not post a schematic but if you have any questions i will answer them! wink

__=|(:3)-|--{__, i asked for the cores. If i get a answer i will send you a PN.

Very nice :D , makes me want to make one with the 200A brick I have and a 4046 IC , make some massive audio arcs xD

For the second gate drive , what turn ratio did you use on the GDT going from the Mini half bridge to the IGBT gates ? , I tried a similar setup with a gate drive IC > GDT > Mini full bridge > GDT > IGBT for a IH , But I could never figure out the best turn ratio .

Thanks, TwirlyWhirly555!
I have 27 turns on the primary and 13 turns on the secondary. Core size is 60mm.

what did you change to do that then? (still think you should make it a full bridge and audio modulate it)

if you add a uf or so in parallel with your primary you might be able to create more circulating current and make it more zvs like. of coerce it will have to be resonant with your oscillator. nice work now I will have to make one.

teravolt, i had the same idea... Making it resonant by adding a cap. But i´m sure it will consume much more power than without a cap. I am running my setup by an 230V 16A wall socket. That equals ~3,7kW. I am really surprised that the breaker did not trip cheesey
