Unless he has a specific reason to use evaporators I would recommend using a DC magnetron for sputtering, better adhesion to substrate.

thanks daedronus

the thing is he has moderate qualification in HT and HF and I think he wouldn't be aware of all danger involved in microwaves and radiated power (he already evaporated lead in his vacuum pump so I advised him to go step by step)

I hope he takes the path of demonstrating each step of the tech himself so he gains a better understanding of the phenomenons..

DC magnetrons have nothing to do with microwaves, they do not radiate any RF power.
the name simply indicates magnets and spiraling electrons are involved.

I forgot to mention he has no access to a neutering gas ;)

I'll get him to look at this principle, but he absolutely wants to use his 1V 700A xformer ><
