The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
I spotted this in my local paper a few days ago. I thought it was interesting, the guy didn't feel the bolt because it hit him on his paralysed arm, but it also had no effect on him in any other way either, and he just carried on a days work. As it hit him on his left arm, I would expect that to be lethal, paralysed or not! The photo in the paper just showed what looks like a huge bruise more than a burn, about 3" in diameter.
All I can think is that the bolt duration was in the microsecond range, so more like a half cycle of RF

It looks like he only got hit by a small fractio of the bolt since it struck the ground on the far side of his van. "I was in Tutbury Park Lane, Tutbury, doing an errand for the football club when the lightning struck the tarmac on the other side of the van as I was stepping out. It must have been conducted through my arm and into the floor."

True, he didn't take the full bolt, but judging by the burn photo in the paper he still passed plenty of current, I just think he's lucky he didn't go into ventricular fibrillation or something. I'm just trying to figure out if being paralysed would offer you any advantage in this situation, but I doubt it would as the current is passing through your heart anyway!

Paralysis has no effect on conduction. Paralysis has to do with lack of transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles. The body is a giant salt bath and this is the conductor.

True. Paralysis won't save you, unless you happened to be paralysed because there's a huge HV rated insulator blocking those electrical connections in your nerves.
This guy was just lucky like other, non-paralysed, people sometimes are.
