I'm just curious as to who runs they're SSTCs at 120Vac then have it half-wave rectified or at 230Vac half rectified? I've been seeing several people in the US running at 230 and others running at 120. Of coarse it's odvious that 230 would have better results b/c of the higher input voltage. But is it necessary? What does everyone advise? Now once again what about the DRSSTCs? Use 230 or 120 full-waved rectified? Whats best? Also how come I get smaller arcs an a full-wave rectified SSTC? Yes I did google this, however, most of everyones circuits don't show the input voltage unfortunately javascript:addtext('!sad',true).

And switching topology, a fullbridge will effectively had double PP output of a halfbridge. So halfbridge and doubler =fullbridge no doubler, fullbridge with doubler=

Problem with it is that in halfbridge IGBT's still face full supply voltage, so it may not be comparable with fullbridge with/with no doubler.
For example, fullbridge can work with 320V supply with 600V IGBT's, but halfbridge would need it doubled to 640V for same effects adn IGBT's would pop.

Thats the point I was making. Topology is a factor to consider when thinking of input voltage.

Thomas, i use 120. I feel that the higher voltage you use in, allows you to use the same power as you would with a lower voltage, but keep the current down. since IGBT's and mosfets tend to disipate more heat when the pwoer is manafested in current.
Halfwave rectification not only lowers the input V to .707*(input RMS) but it also puts a 60 Hz inturuption in for you. (d'oh)
