Hello all, i want to learn some basic pic programming, but there are so much pic processors it is confusing for a novice.
my "basic requirement" is to have 8 I/O ports, preferably in-built generator (so i don't need to use crystal), simple programming requirements - that means by using human codes (like set port1 high;), what simple ic can achieve this? i believe 8bit will be enough for now.
also does anyone know good tutorial site? I have found many, but are often for a one type of pic. Drom basic programming like blinking diodes to more complicated stuff.
I would be very helpful for any good information.

The PIC16F877 is a pretty popular staring uProc.
CCS PIC makes some nice starter development kits and also have a very nice C compiler too.
