Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if in my controller circuit (driver) Steve's UD 1.3b (w/o phase lead), i am currently using to drive CM300(1200V versions but only using 330VDC as its input), is incorporating a Phase Lead predictor will definitely increase the spark length of my coil? - of course without changing any parameters from any part of existing system.. i know that incorporating PLP will reduce IGBT burden/switch loss when switching in-phase with the current on the tank (compensating the delays of the driver and the IGBT itself). Any info regarding this will be highly appreciated.

Most likely not noticeably, but with it you should be able to push the coil harder without worrying about transient voltage spikes. The bricks will switch with no current whatsoever flowing through them at the turn off as well, so you are minimizing losses and getting less heating.

the phase leading is to compensate for the delay in the electronics. It adjusts the zero cross with switching time if the IGBT's. You don't want the IGBT's switching out side the zero cross or you will have hard switching witch can cause transients that can destroy the IGBT's.
