... Well, I can think of better and more compact ways to make this work.
My version would use a piezo squeaker driven from an HV85x single chip inverter, with a pair of microphones. The first would compensate for the non linearity of the frequency response, while the second acts as the input and is positioned near the top of the badge.
The main problem here would be real time processing of the audio, but lookup tables would be one way around this.
My Comm badge could also include:- a directional light, USB pendrive, USB charging and a few other goodies. Maybe also a magnetic sensor and a serial programmer over Bluetooth because that would be very handy for the PIC and AVR folks.
