After a semester of PIC's at uni I finally got a chance to play with the famous Arduino (Atmel 2560) over my break. Result was a quick and for the most part well functioning 'Music Box' (as i call it) for my TC. Ill put my code here on the off chance it's useful to someone, also looking for some general feedback on the code if anyone with experience has some time.
The RTTTL part of my controller works very well I think, rtttl (old nokia ringtone language) seems suited to TC's. -video. Apologies for the crap at the start and the crappy quality - playing with editing software and an old still camera.
The 4 tone midi also *works* but I have some issues I need some help with. The biggest problem is interference, as soon as I ramp up my variac so that breakout is >10cm the audio quality dies (pops and is just all over the shop) and notes get left on, meaning that the ucontroller is missing messages. My keyboard is plugged into the mains (via a small smps) which I think is most likely the problem - TC feeding harmonics back into the mains???? It should also be noted that there is a direct electrical link between the coil and the controller in the form of 5m of coax. Since my rtttl player suffers no interference I don't think this is the problem?? - Do people think that the problem is most likely the keyboard or the coax? /both?
Hardware setup is simple, *opto-isolation for keyboard & ucontroller, standard for MIDI *4digital outputs or'ed together to overlay the frequencies *oneshot anded with output of or's, 420uS CW protection *amplified by ucc27222 to 0-9v pk
