I'm not sure if it is, but it's a big co-incidence if it isn't.

Keep in mind that there are no current limiter here. A 9V battery can source a lot of current if shorted. Not a big deal at 9V but more so at lethal voltages.

Second point would be if someone used lithium batteries or such. The resulting fire would be interesting.

Definitively not a "try at home" stunt....

Remember someone at work that put two 9V batteries in his pocket. They somehow touched together and shorted.
Nasty burn on his leg from the heat and acids. Still has the scar last time we were at the beach.

yeah "a try this at some other dopes house" stunt...

i wonder if the "crackling" sounds were his internal shorts developing? A 160 degree F, 9V is pretty hot.

Conundrum, I remember an old post too. That's what made me wonder if he's from 4HV. I remember someone posting about "What to do with 240 batteries?" Or was it capacitors...

I don't like high voltage stacks of batteries, because they're difficult to turn off if something goes wrong! Any mechanical switch or fuse on that stack would just draw an arc if it tried to break a fault current!

Here's a battery related emergency disconnect I rigged up at work for a one-off test a while ago cheesey
