stacking coils together

I'm trying to stack 2 20Kv coils into one ferrite core but when I connected them together it adds up to 10KV but by itself they can produce 20KV what am I doing wrong?

Maybe connect the coils (secondaries) in series, then 'double up' (series) the diodes in one rectifier?... (assuming the diodes are only rated for 20kV)

(hope that makes sense)

Proud Mary : it seems the picture you posted is the same as I did the only difference you put 2 caps.

Ash Small: I did that and is worst, it would not go over 5KV

I was wondering if anyone ever did something like this? :(

Proud Mary : didnt make much difference it went up to 11kV
Shrad: I though that too, so I switch the direction of one of the secondaries, and it only went up to 13KV.

I can not be the only person who ever try this :) who has done it successfully ? :)

Maybe more resistance would help?

Maybe the voltage is 'sagging', due to the current being drawn?

(doubling the number of turns doubles the voltage, but halves the available current, while the voltage is trying to push twice the current through the resistors (I=V/R))

I dont undertstand what you mean,
I will think the core is saturating, but why is stoping at 10KV while each coil can produce 20KV by itself?

Are the two windings in phase? What happens if you reverse the connection to one of them (attention: fuses!)
