Short answer is yes. But you will probably also need a compensating optic to maintain focus, and neither piece will be easy to make. In fact they will be bloody difficult without some serious tooling. I know its possible as we have wall mounted short throw projectors at work that can put an image underneath the projector on the same wall! The output mirror is a crazy shape.

pics basic arrangement, this prtotype (1-A), blind from 300mm and closer, but can see from 300mm to 6 meters. Im tjinking that its not practical to use one emitter and pixel array, but that two should be used, a near one and pointed in a different direction, a far one. this way i dont have so many useless pixels between 2m and 300mm.
Distance and the 2000ish pixel array. note most of the resolution is right where its not needed, between 300mm and 2m.
