I believe that you may joint all the ferrite pieces and glue togeter, when the magnetic core is open the ferrite may be glued without big change in the reluctance.
By the way, What is the diode D1 that is in the schematic ?

So with a second ferrite core , you may coil a second oinductor.

Tried a lot of different diodes, any low voltage diode seems to work, with the exception of schottky diodes.
