I have recently built a ZVS driver and a 2n3055 driver for my flyback transformer, the 2n3055 driver gives me about 17kv but gets hot in a hurry. The ZVS driver stays very cool but only gives me about 9.5Kv. Anybody have any tips for tweeking my ZVS setup to boost the voltage output. 24VDC supply L=100uH C=.68uF

Take off some primary turns, but I wouldn't go below 6 unless your core isn't hot.

I think decresing the cap to .3uF would increase the frequency to about 30kHz, that might work so it would not overheat.

i had 3+3, 4uF cap, 36V input, freq 18kHz and transformer output was so big that arc jumped from gound to HV output (and burned DST from outside), but core and wires can do it for couple of minutes before overheating :)

I have reduced my turns to 3+3 and I'm right around, 13kv @ 40Khz. It puts out a fair amount of power just not at a super high voltage. When I draw the arc out more than about 2 inches my 24VDC 10Amp power supply maxes out.

It may just be the flyback, I've had some before that look identical but one will output nearly double the voltage with the same driver and driver voltage.
Give a 555 driver circuit a go, that will probably get more voltage out of it.

I did fail to mention that when using the 2n3055 driver I also utilized the internal primary winding on the flyback.
