Multi-segment Toroid?

Can anyone point me in the right direction of information on designing a multisegment toroid? I am embarking on a new project and would like to build one of these. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Basically, I would like to build one for a minibrute based full bridge coil. The secondary will be made from a piece of 12" diameter PVC pipe. Are some materials better than others? Aluminum rod vs. Copper tubing bent and welded? Something similar to the one made by Finn and Daniel.
