RIP a very brave man, he set off for the Moon not knowing for sure what would happen when/if they landed. Even at the time there were discussions about the surface integrity and the possibility that the descent stage could run out of fuel mid-landing.

Shame he didn't live to see Man's first steps on Mars, as this is now not likely until 2028 at the earliest.
