I though I would start to experiment with atmel chips. I have everything wired up, I have a USBasp programmer, I have the firmware installed, when I try to test If I have everything set up correctly, when I type "avrdude -c usbasp -p m8" into the cmd it says
avrdude: error: programm enable: target doesn't answer 1 double checkl connections and try again, or use -F to overide
avrdude done. thank you. I bought the programmer on ebay, there is very little support for this, Im thinking i might just throw it over my shoulder and buy an avr tiny

usbtiny isp works without fail if you do intend to get another. i dont know what that means though other than maybe the chip being broken. i've never gotten that warning before. do you have a circuit diagram?

If the programmer is detecting a specific issue it means that its circuitry is still alive enough to let you know. I assume the target is broken. Try another target and make sure everything is wired flawlessly. Usually mine says it can't get a sync when the ic is hooked up wrong or he clock is set wrong. Again, I am only speculating because I'm not familiar with that programmer and I've never had that error.
Try looking for info on sck line stuff, that's the line that sets how every other line is interpreted. The reason it honk the target is broken is because it says that the target doesn't respond(in particular the sck)

I think I solved the problem, though I have not fixed it yet, the wire I'm using I think is too thin for the breadboard, so there is a crap connection, I have to get some new wire, too bad because I have hundreds of meters of this crap

Try the breadboard jumpers that have two male ends. Theyre what I use, and because theyre stranded with plugs on the end they don't wear out.
