Fod8320 switching

Hey, so I decided to build a 100% smd gate drive system having few components. I've been looking at optocoupled MOSFET driving ic's such as the fod8320. The problem I see going on is the switching speeds of optoelectronics needs to be greatly improved in the industry. Though in the data sheet says 50khz in the max ratings page, it also gives switching times of under 1uS adding up the propagation delays and swing times. Which means that you could potentially get 1mz out(this obviously is impossible) but what about 150-200khz signals? I'm using these values to give headroom for my real intended f of 110khz max.

What do you think?

Similarly vishay's VO3120 ic which should be even faster, but has no set speed other than its delays. I still am more interested in the fod8320, but do either of these look decent? Just for reference, I don't plan on directly driving the gate with these things. They drive on and off a smaller device within the gate drive circuit.

Optocoupler gate drivers are very slow. Check out some more modern options like the isolated gate drivers from Silabs and Analog Devices Link2 Link2 .

What about 6N137 ? Of course the output needs to be buffered to be able to source/sink enough current but it seems quite fast.

The idea here is to minimize components, so having a regular opto feeding a buffer, the buffer feeding a gate drive ic, that feeding a discrete set of fets wouldnt do much to help.

Wolfram: I've ordered a few from si just now. Let's see how they work.

In the meantime, what are people's opinions on the fod's? Maybe pushing 100k?
