Today I show the photos of my 811A VTTC to several people. One of them recognize that it is a VTTC and told me that he once build a VTTC using 4CX250B, it make 3 METER SPARK and the plate voltage he use is 1000 Volt.IS THIS POSSIBLE?

He seems to know a lot about vacuum tubes and he said he is a high power RF engineer.I ask him for the schematic and he said it was lost because he build it many years ago.

I didn't find much information about this tube being used in VTTC.But I know that other tubes with similar plate dissipation rating cannot make 3 meter spark.

So What kind of performance can I expect if I build a VTTC using 4CX250B?

I think the heater of this tube is able to provide ~0.5-1 A of pulsed cathode current, at 2 kV on the plate this is something aroud 2 kW of peak input. Depending on frequency (and many other factors) you might be able to get a ~30cm (12") long spark in pulse, but more likely not even this.

Maybe he meant to say 4CW30,000? :P

I think he probably meant 4CX2500B. That other tube is only rated for 250 Watts.

Sounds very suspicious. How well do you know this guy? His story is totally questionable.
