oh, my mistake. i thought you meant you built them yourself custom.

yeah, i work with radar as well and those particular caps look to be regular filter capacitors (at least based on the photos)

do you have part numbers? if so, give them a call to see if they can give you some specs as far as what they are and what they were designed for.

better to be safe than sorry as i've seen similar caps blow up under heavy discharge (assuming they are not rated for pulse duty)

No doubt, I am probably abusing them here!
The cases are made of 3/32 inch steel, with the tops being at least 1/16 inch thickness. If they do fail, I would expect it to be a silent death due to an internal punch-through, not a case explosion. Have you ever seen a steel case cap like this rupture?

No, but do you know exactly how powerful 15kJ is when focused? If it does rupture which it easily could, then the explosive yield will be all he higher. If I where you then I would be triggering that thing on he other side of a concrete wall cheesey

Thanks for the warning. I will add another 20 feet to my ignition switch!

Hi All,

Is it possible to have one idea of the discharging current ?
How about the electrodinamical forces among the conductors ?

this can happen to filter capacitors in a discharge setup, I would still go for it thou but be sure to stand behind that concrete wall :)
