Thought many of you would enjoy this one/find it interesting
Planes made using carbon fibre rather than metal and how they will protect against lighting strikes, with some high voltage high current strike testing.
Ahaha! That's awesome! While it may lose a tiny bit of structural integrity if a carbon fiber + metal plane got hit by lightning, I guess the costs are balanced for replacement of that part vs. the manufacturing costs of airplanes.

Kinda makes me want to build a lighting simulation chamber a marx with some decent caps would be a bugs amount of fun to play with...
But I really like the way that they go about that. It could be improved though. You dont need a tightly woven layer of metal to achieve the same effect; it may be more efficient to just use some sort of loose grid of slightly thicker wire.

Old news for me!
I used to work at the plant making this stuff. I worked on the aluminum honeycomb, and occasionally the non metalic honeycomb CNC mill facilities, not the strike grid or honeycomb production area. Ive made my share of honeycomb cores for airbus airliner control surfaces.
