hello everyone
i got my gu81m tube today and decided to put my tesla coil together, i have checked everything and it all seemed too be wired up correctly but when i turned it on i got nothing, no tube reddening, no streamers, no humming (exept for my noisy fillament transformer), no nothing!!!! i tried changing the direction of both feedback and primary coil and that made no difference i tried two mots 1 mot, still nothing. yes the secondary is grounded and i also tried arcing the secondary to a grounded rod, still no arc!!! why.
here are the values being used: grid resistor 4k grid capacitor 1.5nf tank capacitor 1nf tube gu81m filament capacitor 4.7nf all grids are connected together

Are there earth grounds on the feedback resistor and the center tap of the filament transformer?
Maybe the coil is just out of tune. With a discharge lamp (neon lamp or similar) you could check if there is an rf field near the coil. The light bulb lights up long before there is a discharge from the top terminal.

Best regards kilovolt
yes the earth is connected too the center tap of the filament but not the feedback resistor instead i have the grids going into the the resistor and cap and then into the feedback coil and then to ground does this make a difference ? ill try changing it and ill also make a schematic of my exact setup :)
