I was running a small (~3cm) flame which was grounded to mains, and a TV around 2 meters from it got completely messed up, something was clicking in it and displayed jagged vertical lines (loss of horizontal deflection). Luckily it survived, probably as it was an old good Sony
If you put a wire mesh around it and use it as a ground, it should be all right, as the RF currents will only travel "inside the system". By unpredictable I meant that RF currents at tens of MHz will travel through air, excite resonances in wiring (as the wave length is just a few tens of meters), etc... The RF current on the output can possibly be several Amps and it needs to find a path to ground. A mains Earth is not really "earth" at this frequency, just a high impedance and it is a bad idea to use it as a RF ground. The best thing is probably to build a "counterweight" with a large sheet of metal... The same grounding/counterweight principles apply as for high power ham radio, transmitters, etc...
That said, these circuits usually seem to run fine with bad or no grounding at all, but it is just a matter of luck I guess.

yeh, in my room ive got a HUGE metal cabenit and a extreamly expencive computer..... really dont want to mess up the computer and i can see the cabenit having some voltage induced in it....
