Dear Coilers,

I just finished my SGTC.
When I wanted to fire it up he did give sparks, but every time I pull the plug, the phone rings.
When I watch the display of the phone, it says: 'Unknown number'.
If I try to pick up the phone, he stops ringing and I don't hear a voice.
The frequency is arround the 350Khz.
If this sounds familiar to you or you know something more about this (maybe if I can 'call' other phones and cellphones with a tesla coil?), plz post a reply.
I might upload a video of this 'tesla coil call' another time.

Kind regards,
HVMaster

One needs to be very careful when running any coil indoors, even though the sparks may not hit anything the emf can cause arcing in things like duct work, sewer pipes...etc far away from the coil and they could ignite fires in areas that are not even close to the coil. Make sure everything is grounded really well. Nothing wrong with running them indoors just be vigilant and be careful and pay attention to your surroundings and once again make sure everything is grounded really well.

I encountered this problem myself with a speaker tower that had aluminum trimming around the edges with about a 1mm gap at each corner I was running my coil about 1m away from it and the corners started arking and actually burnt the wood and that was a weak coil

Have you tried saying "hello" and waiting? I think you should be patient and try to encourage the caller to speak, it could even be Tesla himself. If it gets annoying, get an answering machine to answer the calls for you smile

I really am really careful. I grounded everything so you don't need to worry about that.

Kind regards,
